The IADR invites you to the next Ask Me Anything Event on July 19th at 1 p.m. ET, exclusively available on the IADR Community. What is an Ask Me Anything (AMA) event? A live, one-hour virtual event where IADR Community members can interact through online discussion with an expert in dental, oral and craniofacial research.
Topic: HPV Vaccination and Oropharyngeal Cancer Prevalence and PreventionExpert: @Iain Morgan carried out his PhD at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow, Scotland, before moving for his post-doctoral work to the lab of Dr. Peter Vogt, one of the world's pre-eminent cancer researchers. He worked with Dr. Vogt at USC and The Scripps Research Institute. During his training he focused on understanding how oncogenes regulate cellular growth and transformation. After a brief time in Industry, Morgan returned to the Beatson Institute where he began his work on human papillomaviruses, a causative agent in around 5% of all cancers. In 2000 he took up a Faculty position at the University of Glasgow, continuing his work on HPV, establishing an extramurally funded research program. He also served as an Associate Dean for Research and Chair of Department. In 2013 he moved to VCU SoD where he serves as the Associate Dean for Research, Chair of their basic sciences Department, and Director of VCU Philips Institute for Oral Health Research. He continues to work on human papillomaviruses with a particular interest in their causative role in head and neck cancer. He is currently NIH funded and has led VCU into the top 20 US NIH funded Schools.
